In celebration of the heart of the working dog came this mezzo relief sculpture. Working with different herding breeds in the 1990s, I had occasion to observe superbly trained Border Collies herding my flock of sheep. Race the Pass depicts a Collie flat out running to head off the wayward sheep from the rocky unsafe terrain. This piece transitions from a drawing in the background to fully developed figures in the foreground. Juried into Kansas City Art Show at the Dog Show back in the 1990s.
