Sitting beside my van, this oil pastel painting was done “plein air” during the terrible forest fires that were ravaging British Columbia at that time. The heavy smoke obscured the distant mountains and altered the perception of the foothills’ colours. When I look at this painting, I can still feel how hard it was to breathe when I created it.
