These elegant hardwood jar lids are for use with Mason canning jars and are offered in Regular Lid (for regular-mouth jars) and Wide Lid (for wide-mouth jars) sizes.
They are ideal for displaying those fine conserves that you have on hand, dried vegetables, pasta or any variety of non-food items that you wish to store and display. They make for a perfect gift that is truly unique. A knob is incorporated into the design to make it easier to handle the lid while remaining esthetically pleasing.
Turned on our vintage wood lathe, these stylish hardwood jar lids are made from Canadian maple and black walnut wood. Each lid is then finely sanded, polished smooth and spray-finished with ultra-clear, environmentally friendly, water-based acrylic lacquer that both highlights the character of the wood and provides a durable transparent finish. Each has a threaded metal band glued inside them that screw to the top of your mason jars.
We offer two Lid Sizes (select from the drop-down menu under “Opening (Ouverture)” when ordering):
- Regular Lid (Ordinaire) which fits regular mouth Mason jars: Inside diameter of 2-3/4 inches (7 cm) with an approximate outside diameter of 3-3/4 inches (9.5 cm).
- Wide Lid (Grande) which fits wide mouth Mason jars: Inside diameter of 3-3/8 inches (8.6 cm) with an approximate outside diameter of 4-3/8 inches (11.1 cm).
Both the Regular Lids and Wide Lids, including their attached knobs, stand approximately 2-3/4 inches (7 cm) tall, of which about 2-1/8 inches (2.9 cm) is above the top of the jar.
These wooden lids are not meant for canning nor are they meant for going into and out of the refrigerator – these are meant for use with the sealing snap lids in place on the jar that preserve the freshness of the items in the jar. If the jar’s contents are other than food items and/or are dry, non-perishable and do not need to be sealed, then the wooden lids can be used without the sealing snap lids. The lids should not be overtightened.
To care for the lids, simply wipe with a damp, non-abrasive cloth when needed, however, the wood should never be allowed to soak in water or be washed in the dishwasher or it will become damaged.
